Michigan Works! will give a power point presentation about the MiLEAP grant and the eligibility criteria. The grant funding can be used for training and related training expenses, such as tuition, textbooks, student uniforms, safety gear, childcare, transportation vouchers and other items necessary to start and/or retain employment, as needed on an individual basis. Michigan Works! will make all determinations in regards to participant eligibility. Participants must register for the program with the local Michigan Works! American Job Center. Some training programs that could be funded through MiLEAP include, but is not limited to: welding, certified nurse aide, phlebotomy, CNC, computer aided design, OSHA 30, Solidworks, Microsoft Word programs, sterile processing, pesticide applications, non-destructive testing and medical assisting. Training programs can be credit or noncredit courses. All training programs will result in an industry recognized credential, certification or certificate of completion.

The Michigan Learning and Advancement Program (MiLEAP) strives to support innovative, short-term and mid-term, customized education and training programs to assist job seekers impacted by COVID-19 to transition to high-skill, high-wage employment and accelerated career pathways. Employment opportunities will be in high-demand industry sectors in need of skilled labor in order to increase the industry's ability to attract and retain employees in addition to uplifting Michigan's economy. The MiLEAP program addresses skills shortage by reskilling Michigan workers based on industry needs and supports an increase in credentials, certificates and degrees through short-term training opportunities.
